Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint the student with selected aspects of family law and state family policy, in the context of the study program in which the course is included. Family law is presented as part of private law with a significant emphasis on the public interest in the application of its individual institutes. The subject will document how the development of family law reflects the current social reality, including considerations in terms of future legislation. The interpretation is given both of the key concepts of family law and of institutes that directly or indirectly relate to the provision of social services. A special attention will be aimed on the area of ​​legal remedies against domestic violence and violence against entrusted persons.
Learning outcomes
The student will gain an overview of the current content of the legal regulation of family law across individual legal sources. He will be able to subsume individual life and professional situations with a family or personal aspect under the subject regulation of family law.

Legal regulation and principles of family law 4. Personal status in family law 5. Kinship and selected concepts of family law 6. Matrimonial law - personal rights 7. Matrimonial property law 8. Divorce and separation in marriage, legal regulation of relations with infants 9. Parents and children - parental responsibility, substitute family care 10. The subject of Alimony 11. Procedural aspects of family law 12. Domestic violence and means of legal defense 13. Perspectives of family law in the international context

Assessment methods
To successfully complete the subject, it is necessary to obtain at least 80 out of 100 possible qualification points, which are assigned to the student based on: a) the result of the written exam (or oral exam in an alternate term), for which up to 100 qualification points can be obtained; b) elaboration of a seminar paper in the scope of up to 5 norm pages, for which it is possible to obtain up to 10 qualification points; c) preparation of a presentation on a selected or designated related topic offering a deeper insight into the issue, for which up to 10 qualification points can be obtained.
