Course objectives
To develop in students theoretical and practical competencies to create a research project and verify their theoretical knowledge in the field of special educational methodology. The Research Methodology course equips students with the basic knowledge, understanding and competencies needed to understand the elementary contexts of social research.
Learning outcomes
Professional knowledge: - the student is familiar with the basics of methodology, especially subject terminology, research methods, techniques and research processing options - the student explains the differences between quantitative and qualitative research - Professional skills: - the student analyzes the research process in theoretical and practical contexts - the student recognizes the appropriateness of using research strategies - the student is able to apply the principles of operationalizing research goals. - the student is able to create and verify hypotheses General competencies: - the student is able to independently apply the principles of scientific methodology - the student is able to independently formulate and present the achieved results, or reflect them in their everyday practice

1. Introduction to the methodology of science. 2. Fundamentals of social research. 3. Typology of research strategies. 4. Procedure, method, technique. 5. Quantity, quality and mixed research. 6. Operationalization of research objectives. 7. Fundamentals of quantitative research. Quantitative research techniques. 8. Fundamentals of qualitative research. Qualitative research techniques. 9. Univariate analysis. 10. Bivariate analysis. 11. Interpretation of data and research results. 12. IMRAD.

Assessment methods
100% attendance in seminars, preparation of a bachelor's thesis project. Written test. 70% of correct answers are required to successfully complete the course.

The course can also be completed outside the examination period.
Teacher's information
In course of continuous study, students use the study material, processing it to fulfil selected correspondence assignments which will be discussed in conclusion of the course. At the exam, students demonstrate knowledge of compulsory literature and lectures of the in-person instruction. Students will be able to continuously consult the topics studied individually or in teams, via e-mail, or in consultations upon request.
