Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to selected contemporary rules of social intercourse in selected areas of social life. In addition, students will be introduced to international business and diplomatic protocol in international business and diplomatic practice.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- name selected personalities of Czech etiquette;
- identify and summarise the important features of the rules of social intercourse in selected areas of social life;
- explain the issues of international business and diplomatic protocol in international business and diplomatic practice;
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction to the rules of social interaction
  • Basic rules and concepts. Etiquette and its history. Personalities of Czech etiquette. Social significance of people. Social transgressions of people. Communication between people. Introducing, business cards and titles.
  • 2. Formal wear
  • Dress Code, men's clothing, women's clothing.
  • 3. Travel and leisure
  • Business trip. Private road. Holidays and leisure. Sport. We travel by public transport. We are riding bikes. We travel by train and bus. We travel by boat and plane. Driving a car and a motorcycle.
  • 4. At work
  • We are applying for a job. Behavior at work. For the first time the boss. Time management. Group.
  • 5. Ethics of social events and business
  • Basic principles of social behavior when attending various social events - theater, cinema, opening, concerts, balls, dance parties, graduations, wedding receptions, corporate parties, banquets. Dining rules.
  • 6. Principles and specifics of business negotiations in selected countries
  • Business etiquette of negotiations with foreign partners in selected countries. Preparation for business meetings, basic characteristics of cultures.
  • 7. Social enterprises and opportunities
  • Types of social enterprises and opportunities. Organization of individual companies. Invitations and invitations.
  • 8. Diplomatic relations and diplomatic protocol
  • Diplomacy and diplomatic relations. State bodies for international relations. Diplomatic mission. Consular relations and consulates. Rules for further protocol actions and diplomatic correspondence.
