Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the course is to get acquainted students with the economic development in the selected countries of the Central Europe (Visegrad Group countries) as well as with their position within the present Europe or among developed market economies of the world. The student will be gradually get acquainted with the historical development of national economies in these countries, development of particular indicators characterising internal and external economic stability and in the conclusion, then, with the development of the sector structure in particular countries of Central Europe. For the needs of comparison, the countries of Central Europe (V-4) will be extended by the first countries of European Union.

    Development in Central Europe countries at the beginning of 90's. Economic reforms in these countries and their mutual comparison. A brief evaluation of economic reforms.

    Inhabitants of CE countries (V-4), structure and development. Inhabitants and labour force market in Central Europe countries (V-4). Position of CE countries (V-4) in the world economy, degree of their economic development. Structure of national economies of the selected countries.

    Productivity of labour, starting level and its development. Development of labour productivity from the viewpoint of individual branches. Total productivity of factors of production.

    Investment activity in CE countries (V-4) in the last years. Investment process and its structural aspects.
    7.Inflation, Currency Development and Monetary Policy in CE Countries (V-4)
    Development of individual price indexes in CE countries (V-4). Inflation rate, wages. Development of money aggregates and their influence on inflation rate. Monetary policy realised by central banks of CE countries (V-4).
    8.Labour market in Central European Countries (V-4)
    Employment, level and structure of employment in CE countries (V-4). Labour market and unemployment, development of unemployment. Active and passive manpower policy realised in particular CE countries (V-4).
    9.Fiscal policy in Central European Countries (V-4)
    Revenues and expenditures of public budgets. Balances of public budget and problems of public debt in CE countries (V-4).
    10.External Economic Relations (V-4)
    Foreign trade, development of balance of payments. Terms of trade. Territorial and commodity structure of foreign trade. Inflow of capital and problems of exchange rate.
