- Course objectives
- The course provides comprehensive knowledge of the theory of economic policy with an implication for a practical economical policy and it is built on knowledge acquired by the student in the course of Economic policy. The objective of this course is to introduce to students the possibilities of the making of economic policy at the basis of current economic theory. Special emphasis is placed on theoretical approaches of individual theoretical schools to the creation and possibilities of economic policy and on assessing the effectiveness of economic policy. Examples of the specific economic policies of developed countries will illustrate different forms of economic policy.
- Learning outcomes
- In this course, the student will deepen his understanding of the theoretical, institutional and political contexts of the creation and implementation of economic policy in the conditions of modern economies. He will gain a comprehensive overview of the political aspects of economic policy, the position of the state in the political system, the main theoretical currents of economic policy and the possibilities and limits of economic and political action. He will be oriented in the processes of decision-making, reaching consensus and the functioning of the rules of collective choice, including their limitations and risks. At the same time, he will acquire knowledge about the importance of information, macroeconomic analysis, forecasts and expectations for the effectiveness of economic policy. He will also understand the role of interest groups, corruption and lobbying in economic and political decision-making. The student will be able to critically analyze the goals, instruments and impacts of economic policy, assess the influence of political and institutional factors on its results and apply the acquired knowledge in the professional evaluation of current economic and political problems in the national and European context.
