Course objectives
Teaching Methods of Sociological Research subject is aimed at gaining the ability to search and acquire empirical data, to understand them, to know the possibilities and limits of their ability to notice and to learn sociologically interpret piecemeal information. The course is completed by pilot project sociological research on the general topic (there is a posibility to follow the theme of the Bachelor?s thesis). In lectures, students are introduced to fundamentals of the theory, principles of quantitative and qualitative research approach and research methods and techniques. Students learn to understand the functions of the basic elements of procedures of empirical research (hypothesis, the characters and their operationalization, the method of selection and creation of a file of primary and selected data) and are familiar with the basics of statistical data processing, including principles of the second-degree sorting. Students develop a pilot project of the research. A pilot project of sociological research will be created as a follow-up self-study activity. The pilot project of sociological research is a preparation for the implementation of exploration activities in the framework of the Bachelor?s thesis (or other type of professional work).
