Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic offer of tourism services, their specifications, structure, conditions of implementation and their organization.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- identify and summarize important features of basic tourism services;
- identify and describe current domestic and foreign trends in the offer of tourism services;
- describe the factors that influence the provision of tourism services;
- compare and highlight the differences in different types of tourism services;
- analyze current scientific knowledge in the field of creating a range of tourism services;
Syllabus
  • 1. Characteristics of tourism services, importance for tourism. Tourism and its development, characteristics, economy and industry of tourism, tourism market, consumption and specific features of tourism services, division, quality requirements, specifications and their importance in the development of tourism.
    2. Mediation services in tourism, tour operator activity. Basic characteristics of mediation services, their importance, classification, operation of travel agencies, activities of travel agencies and tourist information centers, tourism legislation, travel creation, contractual conditions, consumer protection.
    3. Transport services in tourism. Services of transport companies, the importance of transport in tourism, railway, coach, air, ship and water transport services, specific transport facilities in tourism.
    4. Insurance services in tourism. Importance of insurance in tourism, insurance risk and resolution of the insured event when traveling abroad and in the country, travel insurance? types and insurance products, travel agency insurance against insolvency.
    5. Services of accommodation facilities. Characteristics, specifications and importance of accommodation facilities, classification and categorization, management and offer of services of accommodation facilities, services for specific groups of guests.
    6. Services of catering facilities. Catering services and their importance in tourism, characteristics, specifications and classification of catering facilities and catering services, management of catering establishments, creation of catering facilities.
    7. Spa services. Historical development and importance of spas and spa care, spa facilities? division and specifications, spa care and offer of spa stays - types and types, management of spa facilities, importance of leisure activities in spa care, Czech and world spas, role of spas in development of tourism.

Teacher's information
Requirements for the student to complete the course: Elaboration of seminar work and its successful defense (20% of evaluation), active involvement in research activities of the department (10% of evaluation), participation in expert lectures (10% of evaluation), written exam (60% of evaluation).
