Course objectives (in Czech)
To introduce students into WAN networks and their implementation and administration. To study active network equipment configuration, primarily routers, including practical exercises in a specialized computer lab. Learning diagnosis of network difficulties. Exercises in TCP/IP protocol usage and implementation including WAN network addressing and routing principals.
Syllabus (in Czech)
Structure:
1. WAN networks.
2. Routers.
3. Deepening knowledge and practical use of TCP/IP protocol.
4. IP addressing.
5. Routing and routing protocols.
6. Network failure diagnostics.
Contents:
1. Introduction into WAN networks issues.
2. WAN networks and routers, functions of routers in WAN networks.
3. Command prompt of a router, command prompt operation modes, introduction into route configuration.
4. Components of a router, network testing, configuration files.
5. Starting up, setting and initialisation of a router.
6. Topology design and configuration of network of two and more routers.
7. IOS, configuration backup.
8. Practical configuration of respective WAN topology network.
9. TCP/IP usage, IP addressing.
10. Routing types and principals.
11. Routing protocols - RIP, IGRP.
12. Network diagnostics.

1. Middle-of-term test1, 0-25 points, minimum 15 points
2. Middle-of-term test2, 0-25 points, minimum 15 points
3. Seminary work in subject "Configuration and Addressing of Given Topology"
4. Final exam, 0-50 points, minimum 30 points
Successfully completed Test1 required for starting Test2.
Successfully completed Test1 and Test2 and accepted seminary work required for allowing student to the final exam.
Test1 and Test2 can be repeated once.
Assessment:
Excellent 85 - 100 points
Very good 70 - 84 points
Good 60 - 69 points
Failed 0 - 59 points
