- To introduce students into WAN networks and their implementation and administration. To study active network equipment configuration, primarily routers, including practical exercises in a specialized computer lab. Learning diagnosis of network difficulties. Exercises in TCP/IP protocol usage and implementation including WAN network addressing and routing principals.

- Structure:
1. WAN networks.
2. Routers.
3. Deepening knowledge and practical use of TCP/IP protocol.
4. IP addressing.
5. Routing and routing protocols.
6. Network failure diagnostics.
Contents:
1. Introduction into WAN networks issues.
2. WAN networks and routers, functions of routers in WAN networks.
3. Command prompt of a router, command prompt operation modes, introduction into route configuration.
4. Components of a router, network testing, configuration files.
5. Starting up, setting and initialisation of a router.
6. Topology design and configuration of network of two and more routers.
7. IOS, configuration backup.
8. Practical configuration of respective WAN topology network.
9. TCP/IP usage, IP addressing.
10. Routing types and principals.
11. Routing protocols - RIP, IGRP.
12. Network diagnostics.
