Course objectives (in Czech)
The aim of the course is to introduce and explain the basic features of insurance system and insurance market in the Czech Republic. The student will gradually get acquainted with various types of insurance, why and how insurance is purchased and so with role of risk management of insurance. This course involves problems of reinsurance and investment of insurance company funds too.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Structure of the Course:
    1. Insurance market, its characteristic and segmentation
    Basic terms, historical evolution of system of insurance, present situation on the insurance market in the EU and in the Czech Republic.
    2. Insurance law
    Public insurance law, private insurance law, creation of technical reserves
    3. Organization and proceedings of system of insurance
    Authorities and institution including state supervision, risk management
    4. The structure of insurance markets
    5. Non-life insurance (general insurance)
    Segmentation of non-life insurance, fire-insurance, theft insurance, household insurance, insurance of buildings, motor vehicle insurance, liability insurance.
    6. Life insurance and health and casualty insurance
    Segmentation of life insurance, health insurance and casualty insurance, life insurance as support of investments
    7. The economics in the system of insurance
    Premium and construction of premium, system of support of demand, economic equability of insurance, bancassurance, reinsurance.
    8. Social insurance and pension schemes
    Financing of systém of social security, method of pension schemes - government pension schemes, obligatory pension schemes and individual pension schemes, defined-benefit and defined-contributions plans, investments of pension funds.
