- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the structure and basic functions of operating systems. Operating system is explained and described in detail including the services that provide operating system and application programs that are usually available with operating system. Students gain theoretical background and higher level of knowledge about operating systems for practical use in today's computer world. The individual features and functions are illustrated by examples via concrete operating systems as Windows and UNIX. There are also shown the characteristics of other operating systems such as DOS, Amiga, Apple Macintosh, Atari DOS, MS Windows, and EPOC.
