Course objectives
The main aim of the course is introducing of students to freely accessible public portals, their structure, development, implementation, installation and servicing. After passing this subject students can develop and service simple portals.
Syllabus
  • 1. Characteristics, descriptions and structures of portals. Use of portals. Services of portals Enterprise portals
    2. The PHP language - variables, operators
    3. The PHP language - conditional statements, loops
    4. HTML and PHP editors. Installation and use of web servers that supports the PHP language
    5. Forms - application of HTML, CSS and PHP. The GET, POST and REQUEST methods
    6. The database system MySQL. Installation, administration, import and export of data
    7. The SQL language. Syntax of basic commands for creating, editing and searching in tables. ERD diagrams. Relations among tables
    8. Creating a simple portal using HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL. Connection to databases, encryption, security of data. Installation of a portal. Update of a portal. Integration and presentation of a portal on Internet. Servers and their services for portals
    9. Windows SharePoint Services. Installing Windows SharePoint Services. SQL Server. Creating and using a template of a document in a document library, list and web templates. Linking document library with a public folder of Microsoft Exchange
    10. Windows SharePoint Services integration with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook). Informational e-mails, Office HTML browser, connections via proxy server
    11. Document sharing. Creation and management of personal websites. Planning. Options for supporting management activities. Security of user access. Securing data sources and the information sent to the Web
    12. Administration of virtual server. Access from the intranet and the Internet to the same content. Multiple content databases at the same virtual server
    13. Trends in portal systems and the use of portals in corporate practice
