- Course objectives
- The course Localization of Business Opportunities is focused on the presentation of basic localization theories and determination of factors that determine the location of companies in space. The main aim of the course is to acquaint students with the conditions and factors that are crucial for business locations in the area and with regard to its sectoral focus.
- Learning outcomes
- The student explains the basic terminology associated with spatial economics and localization. Discusses agglomeration effects and localization factors, which he/she can categorize and evaluate. Evaluates localization factors on real examples of companies or industries and assesses their importance for the emergence of new companies in various industries and markets. The student interprets the importance of environmental and social responsibility of companies in the context of localization and development of business opportunities. Discusses the importance of sustainability and explains the role of national economic and support institutions in supporting entrepreneurship. The student argues the importance of infrastructure, production factors and other resources in the localization of a company. Discusses the relationship between the economic level and the sectoral structure of a country in the context of the location of a company and its involvement in international trade. Apply selected theories when deciding on the location of a hypothetical company and discuss the positives and negatives of tax havens and duty-free zones.
