- Course objectives
- Students will learn the basic mathematical algorithms that find their application in practice. The subject matter discussed is practiced using simple examples. The aim of this training is a deeper understanding of the discussed methods that enable students to effectively make use of computer technology, the deployment of which in analogous problems on a larger scale is necessary.
- Syllabus
- 1. Selected topics from the game theory: games with mixed strategies, games against nature, solution algorithms.
2. Mathematical models for service waiting. Queuing theory. Model examples.
3. Input and its characteristics, service systems and their statistical analysis. Queuing mode, service mode, Kendall's classification of queuing systems, 3-element and 6-element.
4. Role of exponential distribution and its properties, relationship to Poisson distribution. Birth and death process. Erlang distribution. Logistic variables of queuing theory.
5. Operation intensity, the mean number of costumers in a service system, queue length and waiting time in M/M/1 system and M/M/s system.
6. Management and optimization of queuing systems using Excel.
7. Applications.
8. Stock and store theory, basic notions. Wilson I, II, III models. Deterministic models, stochastic models, P and Q models, P models with insurance stock.
