Course objectives
The course aims to continue practising selected language phenomena problematic for the students and also focuses on the written form of mathematical texts and the students´ ability to apply mathematical expressions and formulae in written.
Syllabus
  • The course continues in dealing with language phenomena which tend to be problematic for the Czech students, that is prepositions, verbal forms (-ing vs. infinitive), selected phrasal verbs, linking words and transitional phrases as well as phrases for expressing ideas in English. The mathematical expressions and formulae covered in the previous semester (e.g., expressing a definition, a theorem, etc.) are to be applied in written form; also, usage of articles, the passive and punctuation are to be practised together with stress placement and intonation.
