- Course objectives
- The aim of the subject is to introduce natural disasters and extreme events and emergencies, explanation of causes, potential impacts on the landscape and human society, including the list of areas in CR and around the world, which are vulnerable to high probability of occurrence of these phenomena. The course is a cross-sectional view of the terminology an knowledge of disciplines that deal with emergencies called natural disasters, together with the forms and ways to prevent and, if necessary solutions to these situations. It introduces the major risks for the CR (i.e. mainly phenomena meteorological, hydrological and emergencies related to air quality). Part of the course is an introduction to climatology and climate changes, introduction to the principles and operation of the forecasting, warning and information services in various fields and their legislative framework. Selected natural disasters are described in detail and analyzed in case studies.
