- Cíle předmětu
- This course delves into the new literary trends that are shaping contemporary Anglophone literature. As the global literary landscape evolves, authors across the English-speaking world are experimenting with innovative forms, genres, and narrative techniques in response to shifting social, political, and technological landscapes. This course examines how these new literary trends reflect and engage with the most pressing issues of the 21st century, including globalization, postcolonial identity, digital culture, environmental crises, migration, and reimagined histories.
- Výstupy z učení
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Critically analyse emerging literary trends in contemporary Anglophone literature, with a particular focus on experimental narrative forms, genre hybridity, and innovative storytelling techniques.
- Evaluate the relationship between literary innovation and socio-political contexts, such as globalization, postcolonial identity, environmental crises, and digital culture, and understand how these trends are shaping global literary discourse.
- Apply theoretical frameworks (e.g., postcolonial theory, ecocriticism, digital humanities, transnationalism) to the analysis of contemporary texts and their formal, thematic, and cultural innovations.
- Develop advanced research skills in contemporary literary studies, utilizing primary and secondary sources to conduct independent analyses and engage with current scholarship in the field.
- Articulate informed and well-supported arguments about the future of Anglophone literature, considering the evolving roles of authors, readers, and texts in an increasingly globalized, digital world.
