Course objectives
The aim of the seminar is to acquaint students with current methods and interpretive approaches in research on the history of pre-modern European societies on specific source material and on examples of historical studies that have become classical or paradigmatic in their fields. Attention is paid to the following areas: sociologizing history, cultural history, microhistory, history of mentalities, linguistic turn and postmodern historiography, historical anthropology, issues of collective memory, history of symbols and gender history.

After completing the course the student will be able to:
