- Cíle předmětu
- The aim of the course is to introduce the issues of political parties and party systems, with an emphasis on their form in the countries of Central Europe, which is the subject of the final part of the course. In addition to the historical development and current form of political parties and party systems in each country, attention is paid to theoretical background, the issue of party families and the main differences in the form of parties and party systems in post-communist and Western Europe. Attention is also paid to the question of the transformation of parties and party systems in post-communist Europe after 1989.

- Students will expand their political science knowledge of political parties and party systems and will be able to confront the knowledge gained with contemporary party systems in Central Europe. They will also deepen their knowledge of political science phenomena related to contemporary politics.

- 1) Introduction 2) Theoretical background (definition, typology and functions of political parties) 3) Ideology and political partisanship, party families, representatives of party families in contemporary Europe 4) Typology of party systems 5) Party systems in Germany and Austria and their development after 1945 6) Transformation of parties and party systems in post-communist Europe after 1989. The genesis of new non-communist political parties and movements, the form of party competition. 7) The evolution of former communist parties and their ability to transform and adapt in the new political environment. 8) Selected aspects of political partisanship - Europeanisation of political parties, populism. Regional and ethnic parties. 9) The current party system in Poland, political parties and their development after 1989. 10) Contemporary party system of Slovakia, political parties and their development after 1989. 11) The current party system of Hungary, political parties and their development after 1989, the influence of the Hungarian super-mixed electoral system on the form of party competition. 12) Differences in the form of contemporary political parties and party systems in post-communist and Western Europe. Trends in the development of parties and party systems in Central European countries. 13) Summary
