- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with such knowledge and skills that will enable them to conduct business meetings and negotiations in a foreign language, master professional terminology and at the same time manage business foreign language correspondence focused on standard business situations such as offer, order, complaint, etc., including other competencies in the field of negotiations, presentations, communication in other selected business situations.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the student will be able to: - apply the acquired knowledge and conduct business meetings and negotiations in a foreign language, - use professional terminology - handle business foreign language correspondence focused on standard business situations such as offer, order, complaint, etc., and also negotiate, present and communicate in specific business situations.
- Syllabus
- 1. First contacts
Establishing contacts within the framework of supplier relations. Creation of business documentation. Communication within supplier- customer relations - formulation of letters in business relations (inquiry, offer, order, complaint, claim).
Telephoning. E-mail form.
2. Travel
Flight booking. Car rental. At the airport. In the hotel. Emergency management. Practical training. Evaluation of mastering the necessary competencies in this area. Cultural and local language tips.
3. Company
Arrival to the company. Meeting new colleagues. Business area. Getting one's bearings. Preparation of conference rooms. Preparation for a company presentation. Implementation of a company presentation. Evaluation of a company presentation. Cultural and local language tips.
4. Successful business communication
Negotiations and meetings - preparation for the meeting and its management. Expert discussion - basic terminology apparatus. Participants in the meeting.
Minutes of the meeting. Solution of common and extraordinary events. 5. Negotiation
Submission of a business offer. Rejection of an offer. Terms of trade agreement. How to get time to negotiate. Reaching an agreement. Preparation for the meeting. Implementation of negotiations. Evaluation of negotiations. Cultural and local language tips.
6. Presentation
Start of the presentation. Basic terminology apparatus. The main part of the presentation, description of the board, graphs, diagrams. Ending the presentation. Preparing for the presentation. Implementation of the presentation. Evaluation of the presentation. Specifics in selected regions.
7. After working hours
Personal invitation. In the restaurant. Small talk. End of working and informal meeting. Other social events and their successful management in an international context. Cultural and local language tips.
