Syllabus
  • 1. Analysis of the Basic Factors of Socio-Economic Development Formation of socio-economic communities.
  • The basic structure of production factors and their historical development (human, capital, natural factors). Definition of other economic factors shaping the dynamics of development (division of labor, ownership relations, organization of the production base, and management). Definition of non-economic factors of development (political structures and forms of government, social and cultural institutions, and processes).
  • 2. Basic Definition of the Reproduction Process
  • Production, distribution, exchange, and consumption as parts of the economic system, international division of labor, national and global economy, the role of the state and supranational institutions and organizations in the process of economic development. Model of structural changes.
  • 3. Development Trends in Production Technologies in the World Economy
  • Natural and ecological determinants in the development process. Energy problems in the development of the world economy. Technology and its consequences in the structural changes of socio-economic development.
  • 4. Formation of the Global Economic System
  • The emergence of socio-cultural regions of the world economy as a result of ancient civilizations. Description of the driving factors in the development of the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, China and the Far East, and early American civilizations. The emergence of the European civilizational circle.
  • 5. Medieval Economic Systems and the Beginnings of the Global Economic System
  • The dynamics of the European continent and the emergence of global trade networks (the Silk Road, caravan routes in Africa, sea routes). Exploratory voyages, the formation of the colonial system, and the development of manufacturing (Netherlands and England, the rise of Russia).
  • 6. Industrial Society and the Development of the World Economy
  • The Industrial Revolution of the 18th century and its first phase. Changes in production factors and the economic dominance of Europe. The British, French, and Russian Empires. Liberalization and the rise of foreign trade. The second phase of the Industrial Revolution and the dynamics of the USA. The impact of the 1st and 2nd World Wars on the development trends of the global economy.
  • 7. Development Trends after World War II
  • The third phase of the Industrial Revolution. The emergence, development, and decline of the Soviet economic system. The dominance of the United States, the collapse of the colonial system, and the emergence of developing countries. Integration processes.
  • 8. Development Trends in the Contemporary World Economy
  • Scientific and technological changes in the current production base, the contemporary structure of the global economy, development trends in the flow of goods, services, and capital. Trends in the international migration of labor. The changing role of the state.
  • 9. Development Trends in Territorial Regions of the Global Economy.
  • Characteristics of development trends in different regions of the global economy.
