History

This programme is designed in accordance with the National Qualification Framework of Tertiary Education for the field of historical sciences. It provides students with a broad overview of basic historical disciplines (methodology of historical sciences, auxiliary historical sciences), including political, economic, social and cultural history on a Central European, European and global scale, and at the same time prepares them for various activities in historical, museological and preservation-oriented disciplines. The composition of the subjects in the study plan corresponds to the latest knowledge in the field of history, museology and preservation of monuments. It reflects the development of the so-called new political historiography, which emphasizes the interdisciplinary cooperation of history and related disciplines, and at the same time, in new perspectives, for example, returns to the research of the state as a key political institution and the link between the state and society. Of course, attention is also paid to research currents following the roles of elites, conflicts and political communication in shaping the form of temporally and territorially different societies. It offers basic practical skills in the field of methodology, working with historical sources, orientation in current research fields and presentation of results.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• work with scholarly literature;
• find different types of historical sources depending on the topic of the professional work;
• carry out historical criticism of the sources, identify the main historical phenomena and interpret the knowledge gained (with the help of specialist literature) in the necessary historical context;
• study historical sources and scholarly literature in the original version (English, German, Latin);
• perceive historical facts, phenomena and processes in the context of the knowledge of related scientific fields;
• be oriented in the main problems of Czech, European and world history and the context of political, economic, social and cultural development;
• independently search for information, critically evaluate it and formulate a hypothesis based on it. They are able to test the validity of these hypotheses and draw their own conclusions.

The graduate is qualified to work in practice in institutions focused on the field of history, cultural activities, in museums, galleries, archives, heritage institutions, to the extent set by the agendas of the National Heritage Institute, as well as state administration and self-government as executive bodies of state heritage care, as well as in other memory institutions of various types, including scientific historical institutes and various organizations, private and public, dealing with the care of cultural heritage, including tourism. They are ready to continue his studies in a follow-up study program in a historical or related field.

The creation of study plans is based on the standards and methodology recommended by the National Accreditation Office and the rules of the International Credit System (ECTS); their changes are subject to approval by the FPF SU Academic Senate. The scope of one lesson is standard (45 min.). The structure of the study plan and the ratio of credits obtained in individual groups of subjects is specified in Annex B-IIa (completus; maior, minor). The study plan maintains a balanced ratio between the theoretical part of the teaching, or lectures and seminar form of teaching. The study plan maintains the prescribed ratio between common core subjects and specialization. Part of the study plan is practical teaching in the premises of the university and in specialized classrooms. The sum of acquired knowledge and skills corresponds to the described profile of the graduate. Students are evaluated according to the unified ECTS classification scale.

The number of credits that a student must acquire during the three-year course depends on whether he is studying according to the major or minor study plan.

In the case of joint study, a symmetrical model of study plans is applied, i.e. that the scope of both parts of the study is comparable. The major study plan includes the subject "Introduction to Philosophy" (PZ); due to the completus study plan, it is not a completely new subject, it only covers the teaching of Philosophy I and Philosophy II in a condensed form.

During the three-year study, a student studying SP History according to the study plan maior must acquire 99 ECTS credits. The student must complete all compulsory subjects (81 credits) during the course of study. In addition, the student must obtain 9 credits for subjects in the Compulsory Electives group (PVA and PVB) and 9 credits for subjects in the Optional Subjects group. The student chooses optional subjects from the offer of other study programs implemented at FPF SU, or from the remaining subjects of the PVA and PVB groups.

A student studying SP History according to the minor study plan must acquire 81 ECTS credits during the three-year course. The student must complete all compulsory subjects (64 credits) during the course of study. In addition, the student must obtain 9 credits for subjects in the Compulsory Electives group (PVA and PVB) and 8 credits for subjects in the Optional Subjects group. The student chooses optional subjects from the offer of other study programs implemented at FPF SU, or from the remaining subjects of the PVA and PVB groups.

As part of the combined study, the student combines the major study plan in the range of 99 credits with the minor study plan in the range of 81 credits.

This is an academic program.

The student demonstrates the ability of independent research and written presentation of its results. The student demonstrates competence in all phases of the historian's work, from choosing a topic, compiling a bibliography, heuristics, analysis, criticism, interpretation, to the presentation of his findings. In his qualification work, the student brings new knowledge and ideas, enriching his knowledge of history and related fields.

Graduates of the study program can develop their education within the framework of follow-up study programs in the field of Historical Science education and other related study programs.
