- to obtain a university qualification in all major areas of fine art photography and applied photography
- to acquire knowledge and practical experience in all areas of photographic technique
- to acquire expert knowledge of the history and theory of photography
- to acquire knowledge and practical experience in the field of photography criticism and management, exhibition preparation, and the preparation of photography publications
- to gain an orientation in a broad artistic context, especially in the history and present of fine arts and film
- to be well prepared for work as independent photographers, photographers in the media, professional journalists, or professional teachers at secondary schools and universities

Upon successful completion of the programme, the graduate is able to:
- work at a professional level in all major areas of fine art and applied photography
- have professional qualifications in the main areas of photographic technology;
- have excellent knowledge of the history and present state of photography in a broad social and artistic context;
- be professionally prepared for curating exhibitions and preparing and publishing books;
- be prepared for professional teaching activities in the field of photography at secondary schools and universities;
- be prepared for work in the field of photography criticism and historiography and for work in photography galleries and museum collections.
