Social Pathology and Prevention

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

• explain the phenomena leading to the emergence of risk behavior, to elucidate current trends in theories and methods of social work
• characterize the stages of human development, including in the context of education and the development of society in general
• Clarify the psychological principles underlying the nature of mental processes and states, and to explain the foundations of the theory and practice of education and upbringing of individuals, with an emphasis on risk behavior and prevention
• describe and explain the principles of social work and supervision, to know the current trends in social work theories and methods
• analyze and interpret risk phenomena, and to assess the life situation of an individual in crisis
• solve practical problems of clients using methodological approaches from the fields of pedagogy, psychology, social work, social pathology
• apply the acquired knowledge in the practice of social work and prevention of risk behaviour
• utilize knowledge of communication strategies, as well as educational and communicative methods, when working with individuals affected by risk behavior or threat
• use the educational-didactic apparatus and be able to design educational programmes aimed at the prevention of risk behaviour
• assess and, in collaboration with the client, address their difficult life situation based on a general framework
• conduct a critical analysis of the problem-solving process and seek appropriate solutions, using professional knowledge, skills and competences in a foreign language
• aquire professional knowledge, skills, and competencies through self-education by utilizing practical experience and independently studying theoretical knowledge in the field of study, among other methods
