Cílem předloženého příspěvku je analyzovat brownfieldy a efekty s jejich existencí spojené v souvislosti s jednou z forem tržního selhání, kterým jsou externality. Obsahem práce je praktická aplikace externalitní teorie na konkrétní, primárním výzkumem zjištěné jevy, které mají povahu externalit. Prostřednictvím odpovědí respondentů Karvinského regionu lze nejen některé tyto efekty definovat, ale také určit jejich sílu a důležitost. Z tohoto pohledu nebudou brány na zřetel pouze externality kladné a záporné, ale brownfieldy budou rovněž klasifikovány podle prostorového působení, účinku, schopnosti penetrace mezi sektory a podle vlivu na ekonomickou efektivnost. Taktéž řešení externalit s brownfieldy spojenými se bude nejen opírat o teoretická doporučení, ale současně bude mít paralelu v ekonomicko-společenské realitě a relevanci ke skutečnému záměru veřejnoprávních i soukromých institucí.

The aim of the paper is to analyzed brownfields and their effects associated with one of the forms of market failure, which are externalities. The content of the thesis is the practical application of external theory on concrete, primary research of the phenomenon, which have the nature of externalities. Through the answers of the respondents in the region of Karviná, not only can some of these effects be defined but also determine their strength and importance. From this perspective, only positive and negative externalities will be taken into account, but brownfields will also be classified according to the spatial impact, the effect, the penetration capability between the sectors and the impact on economic efficiency. Also, the brownfield solution in context of externalities will not only rely on theoretical recommendations, but at the same time it will have a parallel in the economic and social reality and relevance to the real purpose of both public and private institutions.
