Tématem příspěvku je inscenační uchopení unikátní hudebně-dramatické trilogie Hippodamie (1888–1891), kterou uvedl na repertoár pražského Národního divadla ve 20. letech 20. století Karel Hugo Hilar, tehdejší umělecký šéf tamní činohry. První díl, Námluvy Pelopovy (premiéra 1923), režijně připravil sám Hilar: z expresionismu vycházející tvůrce, zde pozvolna se obracející k civilismu, vetkl i oběma dalším částem (Smír Tantalův a Smrt Hippodamie – obě v režii Vojty Nováka, obojí premiérováno 1925) základní poetický rámec, resp. předznamenal jejich žánrově-stylové řešení.

The theme of the study is a scenic interpretation of the unique music-dramatic trilogy Hippodamie (1888–1891) that was placed on the repertoire of the Prague National Theatre in the 1920s. It was presented by Karel Hugo Hilar, the head of the drama ensemble. He himself also directed the first part of the trilogy, The Courtship of Pelops (premiere in 1923): the artist with expressionist roots, now slowly turning to civilism, predetermined basic poetic framework, resp. genre-style solution, of both the other parts (The Reconciliation of Tantalus and The Death of Hippodamie, both directed by Vojta Novák and premiered in 1925).
