There are many technologies which can be used in the educational process. It also includes 3D printing – very useful educational tool. 3D printing technology has several possible uses. The reason for its use may be greater interaction between students in creation and printing, creation of tangible aids or practical teaching. In Mathematical Institute in Opava we already use this technology in teaching mathematics. Thus, we can clearly show the need for spatial imagination and various mathematical apparatuses. Thanks to this technology, new aids or models of less common spatial bodies can be created in schools. These models can be used to teach spatial geometry, with the great benefit of easy repeatability of their production. Our current focus is the use of 3D printers for teaching specialized subjects in the field of population protection. The aim of the article is to describe the printout production and subsequent use of a physical model of the relief of a selected area as a tool for teaching professional subjects in the field of crisis and emergency planning at our universities.
