Emergency care is a modern social service that can effectively contribute to delaying the need for care provided in residential facilities. So far, the lessons learned indicate that these social services are not developed primarily for the reluctance of clients to participate in covering the costs of its provision. The aim of this paper is to identify opportunities for the development of emergency care. Based on the identification of some possibilities of using assistance technologies in the provision of emergency care, the functioning of one of the registered emergency care services is described on the example of good practice. It is obvious that the development of emergency care is limited by a number of mainly economic aspects on the part of potential users of the service. The development of new assistance technologies usable in the field of social services and health care offers a number of new possibilities and impulses for delaying the need for care in residential facilities of social services. It is therefore recommended to carry out a feasibility study, which should include solutions to the technical, organizational, procedural and economic aspects of the various possible approaches.
