| Tělo je kraj nížinný i hornatý, pohostinný i potenciálně nebezpečný. S tělem koexistujeme stejně jako s krajem či krajinou — ať chceme či nechceme. Kraj i tělo jsou úzce spojeny s naší identitou, s našimi kořeny. Jakkoli je přirovnání těla ke krajině pitoreskní, má v sobě název výstavy ještě další význam, a to kraj ve smyslu okraje či krajnosti. Kraj těla je tedy zároveň hranicí, ostnem tělesnosti. A právě tato dvojakost charakterizuje tvorbu opavské rodačky Sary Wollasch, která právě dokončuje studium na brněnské FAVu. Její zkoumání tělesnosti začalo v ateliéru Tělového designu Lenky Klodové, kde vzniklo dnes již dobře známé performanční duo NEWkus. V něm spolu s Barborou Smékalovou (nyní Schreier) experimentovaly s možnostmi tělově zaměřené vizuální performance ve spojení s kýčem, stereotypy a trash estetikou. Po této zkušenosti se Wollasch rozhodla přejít k trvalejšímu médiu, k sochařské a instalační tvorbě, kterou studuje u Jana Ambrůze v Ateliéru sochařství 2. Téma těla a tělesnosti se však jako leitmotiv vine celou šíří jejího uměleckého vyjádření. Výstava v Galerii Hauerova 4 představí obě hlavní polohy umělkyně. Návštěvník se seznámí s dokumentací performancí, které vznikly během šestiletého působení NEWkusu, stejně jako s aktuální sochařskou tvorbou. Umělkyně na výstavě prezentuje různé polohy práce s materiálem: ať už se jedná o křehké skleněné odlitky, sádrové odlitky těla v kombinaci s lidskými vlasy v symbolickém hnízdě (doplněné postupně rezavějící armaturou) či instalaci postele s odlitkem sexuálního aktu. |

| The body is a landscape both lowland and mountainous, hospitable and potentially dangerous. We coexist with the body in the same way as we do with the land or the landscape, whether we want to or not. The landscape and the body are intimately connected to our identity, our roots. As idiotic as the comparison of the body to the landscape is, the title of the exhibition has another meaning, and that is the edge in the sense of margin or extremity. The edge of the body is therefore also the border, the edge of corporeality. And it is this duality that characterises the work of Sara Wollasch, a native of Opava, who is currently completing her studies at the Brno Academy of Fine Arts. Her exploration of corporeality began in Lenka Klodová's Body Design Studio, where the now well-known performance duo NEWkus was created. There, together with Barbora Smékalová (now Schreier), they experimented with the possibilities of body-oriented visual performance in conjunction with kitsch, stereotypes and trash aesthetics. After this experience, Wollasch decided to switch to a more permanent medium, sculpture and installation work, which she studies with Jan Ambrůz at the Atelier of Sculpture 2. The exhibition at the Hauerova 4 Gallery will present both main positions of the artist. The visitor will be acquainted with the documentation of performances that have been created during NEWkus' six-year existence, as well as artist´s actual sculptural work. In the exhibition, the artist presents different positions of working with material: whether it is fragile glass casts, plaster casts of the body combined with human hair in a symbolic nest (complete with gradually rusting armature) or an installation of a bed with a mold of a sexual act. |
