Franz Grillparzer und František Zavřel bearbeiten in ihren Dramen das tragische Schicksal des böhmischen Königs Přemysl Otakar II. Beide Autoren zeigen den König als eine starke Persönlichkeit, die in einen Konflikt mit ihrer Umgebung und – bei Grillparzer – mit der kommenden historischen Epoche gerät. Beide Autoren ließen sich bei der Darstellung des Königs bewusst von Kaiser Napoleon inspirieren. Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Sicht beider Autoren auf Napoleon ist Grillparzers Ottokar ein faszinierender, aber gefährlicher Unruhestifter, während Zavřels Přemysl ein strahlender, halbgöttlicher Held ist. Das Ziel der Studie besteht darin, auf die Berührungspunkte und Unterschiede zwischen Grillparzers Ottokar und Zavřels Přemysl aufmerksam zu machen.

Franz Grillparzer and František Zavřel deal with the tragic fate of the Bohemian King Přemysl Otakar II. Both authors portray the king as a strong personality who comes into conflict with his surroundings and – in Grillparzer’s case – with the emerging historical epoch. Both authors consciously drew inspiration from Emperor Napoleon in their portrayal of the king. Because of their different views of Napoleon, Grillparzer’s Ottokar is a fascinating but dangerous troublemaker, while Zavřel’s Přemysl is a shining, semi-divine hero. The aim of this study is to highlight common as well as different points of view of Grillparzer’s Ottokar and Zavřel’s Přemysl.
