Abstract

In the original language

This article explores the theme of female silence in Jane Eyre, Natural Beauty, and My Year of Rest and Relaxation, examining how gender, race, class, and historical context shape its form and function. With reference to feminist theory of Gilbert and Gubar, Kristeva and Spivak, it examines silence as both oppression and resistance. Through comparative analysis, this article reveals how the portrayal of silence evolves, reflecting shifting power structures and the complexities of female subjectivity in literature.
