- Course objectives
- Course objectives The English 3 course links to the English 2 course and its aim is to continue to develop the knowledge already acquired by the students. Emphasis is placed on the grammatical and lexical aspects of language and the harmonious development of all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) so that students communicate understandably and grammatically correctly in everyday situations, both orally and in writing, at the appropriate language level. The topics will extended by supplementary materials reflecting the specific needs of the students in order to deepen their knowledge of the study field, but also to deepen their knowledge of English-speaking countries in Europe and the world and to strengthen their awareness of the existence of different cultures and societies in the contemporary multicultural world. The course ends with a credit test. The exit level of the course corresponds to B1+ and the aim of the English I-V series is to reach language level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will demonstrate: the achievement of language level B 1.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference; the ability to communicate in English at level B2.1 on topics and activities not only in everyday life, but also in situations of a higher social relevance, e.g. study, travel, etc.; the ability to argue in both informal and formal discourse on familiar and less familiar topics using appropriate vocabulary; the ability to recognise and use different types of informal functional styles; the ability to communicate in writing in informal correspondence (different types of personal letters or electronic messages, but also in formal written communication when writing a CV, invitation or reservation; the ability to use grammatical phenomena at a given level; the ability to follow a presentation on various topics, to engage in discussion, to give a presentation on a known topic in the field.

- 2. Meetings; work; formal letters and a CV.
- 3. Quantifiers; noun formation.
- 4. Articles – a/an, the, no article; connectors.
- 5. Gerunds and infinitives.
- 6. Verbs and adjectives + prepositions.
- 7. Revise and check Unit 5.
- 8. Reported speech: statements, questions and commands.
- 9. Shopping; word stress.
- 10. Passive – be + past participle.
- 11. Cinema; breaking news.
- 12. Relative clauses: defining and non-defining.
- 13. Revise and check Unit 6.
