Course objectives
The course extends and deepens theoretical knowledge of cultural history and heritage on practical and organizational levels. It presents selected topics in the field of material culture presented by modern teaching methods with the intersection of theoretical and practical components. The student will complete a programme block focused on experimental archaeology, experimental museology, on organising animation and event activities, courses and workshops for the public. Topics include presentation of traditional agricultural and craft production, traditional/regional food and dining, maintenance of customs and rituals associated with Christmas, Easter, Lent, feasts and other events of the agricultural and liturgical calendar, bourgeois and noble everyday life and festivals, etc. Students are motivated to participate in organized programmes, are able to apply the acquired experience and skills in a particular experiment and preparation of similarly focused individual projects; interpret knowledge with a high degree of credibility, objectivity and critical approach. The course is organized in cooperation with professional institutions (memory and cultural institutions, open-air museums), installed objects, private entities focused on activities related to the presentation and education of cultural heritage; partial experiments are realized in a specialized classroom.
