Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the principles of communication and to enable them to acquire practical communication skills and techniques, procedures for removing communication barriers and the use of appropriate linguistic and non-linguistic tools for different types of communication, using effective teaching methods. Students will receive feedback by using audio-visual technology to analyse speeches. Emphasis is placed on written preparation, oral interpretation of speeches, model dialogues and discussions including evaluation and self-evaluation.

  • 3. Verbal communication.
  • 4. Non-verbal communication.
  • 5. Content and stylistic aspects of linguistic discourse.
  • 6. Basics of effective communication.
  • 7. Public speech.
  • 8. Personality of a speaker and his/her influence on the audience.
  • 9. Developing and promoting improvisation skills.
  • 10. Workplace/corporate communication and meetings.
  • 11. Communication with customers and business partners.
  • 12. Principles of effective presentation.
  • 13. Negative phenomena in communication.
