Course objectives
The course extends and deepens theoretical knowledge of cultural history and heritage in practical and organisational terms. It presents selected topics in the area of material culture presented by modern teaching methods with crossover of theoretical and practical components. Students complete a program block focused on experimental activities, on holding animation and experiential events and workshops for the public. Themes include presentation of traditional agricultural and handcraft production, traditional/regional food and dining, maintenance of traditional folk/religious customs and rituals, with bourgeois and aristocratic everyday life, etc. Students participate actively in organized programs, are able to apply the acquired experience, and skills in a specific experiment and preparation of similarly focused individual projects. They prepare a sample animation and educational program, simulate it in a specialized teaching room. The course is organized in cooperation with professional institutions (memory and cultural institutions, open-air museums), installed objects, private entities focused on activities related to the presentation and education of cultural heritage; partial experiments are implemented using a specialized classroom.
