Course objectives
The main task of the course is to familiarize students with the archaeological developments in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages. In the second half of the twentieth century there was a huge quantitative and qualitative development of the source base through extensive rescue archaeological research. Students will become familiar with different research methodologies medieval monuments, will be discussed villages, towns and castles. Attention is also paid to the heating device, because tiles are an important source of information not only for archaeologists but also for medieval historians and art historians. An integral part of knowledge are also ceramic artifacts and numerous metal objects. Attention will be paid to the medieval piety, pilgrimage to holy places and monasteries. Remote and local trade is attested to by numerous artifacts that are very interesting example of the life of our ancestors.
