Course objectives
The aim of the lectures is to master the issues in the field of input document processing, specifically information analysis of the document, as the initial operation of processing processes in libraries. The basis is to master the methodologies of professional activities, including the specification and selection of appropriate identification and content elements, which in a formalized structure transform information about documents into library and information systems. The course also includes a typology, methodology and rules for creating suitable study and analysis outputs, which are part of the processes of supplementing and processing library information collections. The content of the exercise is based on and follows the content of the lecture Supplementing and processing the library collection II.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- summarize the basic methods and procedures of information analysis of documents in libraries;
- identify and describe the ways and methods of study analysis work;
- search for and use modern methods of document processing in libraries;
- practically apply the methods of output processing of documents.

  • Introduction and terminological definition
  • Input document processing, partial processes and results of input document processing
  • Information language, natural formalized information language, artificial information language and selection data
  • Document information analysis as a default operation of input document processing in libraries, identification and content analysis, document image in library and information systems
  • Reduced texts, types and methodology of creating annotations and papers
  • Paper journals and paper services, importance and role in communicating professional information.
