- Course objectives
- The student will obtain an overview of the development and current state of book culture. The course also introduces students to the issue of bibliophily and bookplate. A special part of the lecture series is devoted to the basics of preventive care and protection of library collections.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- orientate in the history of book culture in the Czech lands and Western Europe;
- describe the current state of book culture in the Czech lands and Western Europe;
- orientate oneself in selected special areas of book culture (eg bibliophilia, bookplate, bookbinding);
- apply in practice information from the field of preventive care and protection of library collections. - Syllabus
