Course objectives
The lecture provides an overview of the history of the Czech lands (Crown; individual countries - Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, both Lusatia) in the 16th to 18th centuries in the context of the history of the Habsburg Danube monarchy and international relations. It provides an orientation in basic concepts, periodization; presents the main problem areas of development with regard to specific features of the history of the period (statism, confederation movement, modernization, bureaucratization, centralism, absolutism, confessional struggles, provincial state separatism); recalls the roles of the Czech lands in  European political and military struggles and contributes to the understanding of the role of the Habsburg monarchy in the context of early modern European history.
