Course objectives
The course deepens and expands the basic knowledge of economic and social aspects of historical development, especially in the context of Czech history. It provides an overview of the methodological and theoretical background of the field. In individual lessons, students will be acquainted with the economic and social history of the countryside, cities and the highest strata of pre-modern society, ie the nobility, from the Middle Ages to the end of the early modern period. The seminar pays attention to selected problem areas of Czech economic and social history. The student deepens the ability to work with literature and selected sources, skills in the application of methods of historical work.
Learning outcomes
By completing the course, the student will comprehensively expand and deepen their knowledge of economic and social aspects of the historical Czech lands in the Middle Ages and early modern times. At the same time, the student will gain a basic overview of methodological discussions in the field. The seminar part of the course will deepen students' ability to work independently with professional literature and selected sources.
