- Course objectives
- Familiarisation with the literature and editions of written sources (in extenso, regesta) and of the principles of archeography. Practice of the basic practical skills necessary for determination, classification and utilisation of historical sources with the emphasis on documents of diplomatic and codicological character, for description, analysis and classification of sigillographic, heraldic and numismatic material, for dating, metrology data processing, etc. Work with specific sources of particular types and kinds introduces the issues of their complex analysis, criticism and interpretation. The aim is the introduction of their function and application in historical research (information ability, credibility) and application of procedures and methods when analysing and making them available. The seminar guides the students to independent work with historical sources (transliteration/transcription of texts, dating, regesting, blazoning of coats of arms, etc.)
