Course objectives

The lecture explores the phenomenon of preference of heavy industry in the economic policy of Czechoslovakia in the years 1948-1953.

Syllabus

It is a one-semester course that captures the crucial period of Czechoslovak recent history, that is the first five-year plan. All twelve lectures is designed to trap as previous causes, and consequences for the development of the Czechoslovak economy after 1953. First, we analyze the state of the economy and national economic ideas after World War II, further attention is paid to economic concepts in 1947, the consequences of the coup in February 1948 for the economy, the consequences of property transfers, etc. The first Five-Year Plan (1949-1953) is recognized not only with regard to structural changes in the industry, but are captured by shifts in services, agriculture, finance, labor, etc. are also examined issues of labor and social consequences. Not overlooking the international context, five-year plan. In conclusion, attention is also paid to the strictures that have been created to further the reforms and returns to direktivnímu model of economic management.
