Course objectives
The students will get acquainted with the importance and position of spas in the development of a region, with specific knowledge necessary for the performance of an independent activity as well as middle management functions in spa operation. The aim is the distinction of the specifics of spa services and standard hotel and gastronomy services. The students will learn how to use the potential of spa facilities for the preparation of programmes not only for curative but especially for preventive health care of individuals (physical as well as psychological). The students should be able to identify the services that are missing as well as to find the ways how to introduce them in spa establishments successfully. The students should also have the command of basic bonds concerning organisation and management of economic effectiveness of spa operation.

    2. Property relations in spa and the influence of their transformation on spa operation
    3. Spa care and the system of spa services provision in the connection with health insurance
    4. Classification of spa services and their specifics in closed or open (commercial) operation
    5. Accommodation services and their importance for spa stay
    6. Gastronomy services as an integral part of medical care
    7. Additional services, leisure time activities, services offered by other operators
    8. Organisation and management of spa establishments
    9. Economics and spa establishment operation
    10. Creation of spa care products and their promotion
