- The basic orientation in the history of Early Modern period and the 19th century in the Bohemian lands, the knowledge of basic terms from art history, material culture and the history of everyday life.

- Course objectives
- Series of lectures follows the first part of the block of lectures and focuses on basic material artefacts from the area of everyday life, as well as on phenomena associated with crafts, manufacture production, industrialization, and lifestyle of aristocracy, nobility and bourgeoisie. This involves material sources in cultural, historical and intellectual currents and historical movements (from the Enlightenment to industrial and liberal society). The emphasis would be placed on the material artefacts with which the student most likely to encounter in the collections of museums. Basic heuristic typology and material sources, represented in the collections, will be accompanied by an outline of their usefulness as specific sources, allowing reconstructing historic and cultural-historical context of these monuments and their role in contemporary society.
