Course objectives
This class combines different elements taken from lectures and from practical exercises. The first ones will offer useful background information as to questions like: How do I write a good presentation? How do I successfully direct and moderate a debate? In the latter ones, every participant is going to prepare a presentation of a subject chosen by him or her, and after directs a discussion. In addition to that, each participant will be asked to prepare the subject of next class by writing a short eaasy giving his or her opinion at home. Each presentation should - after taking into account what might be of particular interest to the pariticipants - fit into a thematical frame suggested by the teacher. As such frames are named e.g.: Different periods of age in life: Dreams, hopes, experiences, and anxieties Our town - research into history and present time Secondary literature, i.e. here: models for the written exercises, will as a rule be prepared by the teacher.
