Course objectives
This class combines different elements taken from lectures and from practical exercises. The first ones will offer useful background information as to questions like: How do I write a good presentation? How do I successfully direct and moderate a debate? In the latter ones, every participant is going to prepare a presentation of a subject chosen by him or her, and after directs a discussion. Participants may suggests subjects of their presentation in their own. Besides, they may choose from about 20 subjects from different fields of public life, e.g. family life, modern media, life in society etc. including tourism. Secondary literature, i.e. here: models for the written exercises, will as a rule be prepared by the teacher. in the first lesson an example of a presentation is given. The following lessons will show techniques and strategies of argument by the analysis of existing commentaries, glosses and opinion articles. After that, the next lessons will - depending on the number of students - be dedicated to the student's presentations and the work on individual problems.
