- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce the concise history of theories of art and aesthetics, the main directions of them, important personalities, concepts. It will be focused on the current concept of art theory and aesthetics in the broader context of social sciences and humanities and art. The lessons will include screenings of films, photographic reproductions of artefacts, etc.

- The aim of the course is to introduce the concise history of theories of art and aesthetics, the main directions of them, important personalities, concepts. It will be focused on the current concept of art theory and aesthetics in the broader context of social sciences and humanities and art. The lessons will include screenings of films, photographic reproductions of artefacts, etc. 1. Introduction to the subject matter, presentation of the compulsory and recommended literature
- 2. Outline of the history of aesthetic thinking; anthropological aesthetics and art history
- 3. Basic terminology, an attempt to define the subject, interdisciplinary context
- 4. Aesthetics of life ("meaning of life" and aesthetics, concept of natural world, etc.)
- 5. Aesthetics and cognition (art as the way of getting to know the world)
- 6. Aesthetics and the action: cultural, artistic, social, communication
- 7. Aesthetics and feeling (psychological aspects of experience, secondary emotionality, experience, etc.)
- 8. Environmental aesthetics and its limits
- 9. Aesthetics of applied creation (things, people, wider and narrower environment ...)
- 10. About taste, fashion, snobbery and kitsch
