Course objectives
The course presents the intersection of selected issues of literary theory and philosophical thinking, while the main goal is to acquaint students with more general thought contexts of theoretical concepts and schools.
Learning outcomes
The student will gain an awareness of philosophical assumptions and contexts of the main concepts of literary theory.

  • 1. Mythos, logos, kerygma - a word in Greek and Roman culture, in the Jewish and Christian tradition; N. Frye 2. Mimesis - Plato, Aristotle 3. Aesthetically - I. Kant 4. Story and metaphysics of art - G. W. F. Hegel 5. Nietzsche and art 6. After Hegel - M. M. Bachtin, W. Benjamin, Marxism, critical theory 7. Perspective of the perceiver - phenomenology, reception aesthetics 8. Ontology - poetic work as an event of being and the happening of truth (M. Heidegger); literature and weak thinking (G. Vattimo) 9. Turn to language and / as a sign - U. Eco, R. Barthes 10. Art of interpretation, hermeneutics - H.-G. Gadamer, P. Ricoeur 11. Subject - starting point, or effect of discourse? (M.
