Course objectives
The subject follows the subject of Bibliology I. It focuses on the specifics of the development of book in the Czech lands and Europe in the 16th -21th century. The lectures are dedicated to spreading and development of the bookprinting in the Czech lands and on the European continent. Attention is paid to the period after 1500, to the innovations in printing and in the paper production. Students also gain knowledges of typography, graphic design.The basic terminology (typography, paper, illustrations. Printing in Europe and in the world between 15th and 20th century. The beginning of the letterpress in the Czech Republic.Czech letterpress in the 16th and 17th century. Printers of Unity of the Brethren (Jednota bratrská) and their production. Book of the Baroque and the National Revival. Editorial and publishing activities in the Czech lands in the 19th and 20th century. Industrial revolution of the 19th century and its influence on the development of book (letterpress, papermaking, book illustration and its development). Publishing activity in the 19 th and 20th century in the Czech lands and Europe. Bibliophilia. The contemporary form of the book and its production.

Active participation in lectures (75%).
