- Course objectives
- Seminar develops knowledge of History proseminar a lecture Introduction to the Study of History, series of modern sources and principles editorial work, sources 18th to 20th century (official and military schematisms, statistics, census papers, newspapers, directories, topographic guides, biographical lexicons, surveys of public authorities and public institutions, edition of party documents, etc.), the emphasis is on practical work with these sources, by the presentation, the students with important contemporary terms or events in modern and recent history, with prominent historians, knowledge of reading material (especially from the 19th century), the political map of Europe in the 19th and 20th century.
- Learning outcomes
- The proseminar develops students' knowledge acquired from the Historical Proseminar in connection with the lecture Introduction to the Study of History. The subject of interest are editions of modern sources and the principles of critical publishing work, and especially acquaintance with a number of types of sources characteristic for the 18th-20th centuries. century (official and military schematisms, statistics, census operas, collections of laws, official papers, directories, topographic manuals, biographical lexicons, overviews of state authorities and public institutions, editions of party documents, etc.) Emphasis is placed on practical work with these sources. In the form of independently prepared papers, students get acquainted with important contemporary concepts or events of modern and recent history, as well as with historians dealing with this period. An organic part of the proseminar is the students' discussions on these papers. Students also practice the knowledge of reading nude material, especially from 19. century, citations and knowledge of the political map of 19th and 20th century Europe.
